Our environmental goals, packaging initiatives, and efforts to reduce carbon footprints across Canada.

UpNorth Marketplace is proud to be Canadian โ and we believe that pride comes with a responsibility to protect the land, water, and wildlife that make this country extraordinary. This report outlines the concrete steps we're taking to reduce our environmental impact.
We route orders through the closest regional warehouse and consolidate packages to cut unnecessary truck trips across Canadian shipping routes.
100% of our mailers and boxes are made from post-consumer recycled content and are fully recyclable in curbside programs nationwide.
We size every box to the product to eliminate empty space, reducing material use and the carbon footprint of each shipment.
We prioritize Canada Post and Purolator routes that use low-emission vehicles and offer carbon-neutral delivery options.
Every order ships in recyclable, right-sized packaging. We've replaced bubble wrap with recycled paper padding and introduced reusable mailer bags for local deliveries in select cities. Our returns packaging is designed to be reused โ the same box your order arrives in can be used to send it back with our prepaid label.
Canada is vast, and distance is the biggest driver of shipping emissions. We tackle this by consolidating orders into full manifests, routing through regional distribution hubs, and partnering with carriers investing in electric and low-emission fleets. Our goal is to lower the carbon cost per package on every route โ from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic, and into the North.
Because our sellers are Canadian, products travel shorter distances to reach Canadian buyers. Choosing local isn't just good for the economy โ it's one of the most effective ways to cut the emissions tied to long-haul international freight. Browse our local sellers to see who you're supporting.
We track packaging weight, box-fill ratio, and carrier emissions data quarterly and publish updated targets here each year. We're committed to transparency โ when we miss a target, we'll say so and explain how we'll course-correct.
